Employment
In 2008 and 2009, TURN was a recipient of Utah’s Best Place to Work!
Two Years Running! TURN is proud to be a 2008 and 2009 winner of the prestigious Work/Life Award – “Utah’s Best Places to Work.” The Utah Work/Life Awards recognize and honor companies that are creating exceptional workplaces and businesses by effectively addressing employee work/life needs and striving to create and maintain a culture of equity and opportunity.
Exemplars
The Exemplar Staff Program was created to reward exemplary Program Instuctors for their
performance rather than just time with the agency. The Program creates an “inner circle” of long term direct care staff that serves to provide good modeling and training, and incorporate peer feedback in planning and development of agency goals and programs.
Beyond exceptional work habits and a positive employee evaluation, nominees have to meet a spectrum of selection criteria, including demonstrating positive relationships with people in their programs, treating everyone with dignity and respect, and being a team player. Further, they were identified as staff members who take the initiative, demonstrate creativity, and continually go “the extra mile.”

"I am an artist", said Kathy Thomas when asked to describe herself. "And there's a lot of talents I can do, like exercise dancing. I do word search and jigsaw puzzles. I do cursive writing and I can do printing. I am good at bowling." Kathy says she has lived in many places in Utah, and currently loves the little 3-bedroom house she shares with two roommates. She is happy that she can walk to the market and her bank. She also likes the Orem Center Street Day Program she attends because of the friends and all the creative activities. "I think being an artist is real good. You can make pretty pictures and hang them up everywhere."
