Employment
In 2008 and 2009, TURN was a recipient of Utah’s Best Place to Work!
Two Years Running! TURN is proud to be a 2008 and 2009 winner of the prestigious Work/Life Award – “Utah’s Best Places to Work.” The Utah Work/Life Awards recognize and honor companies that are creating exceptional workplaces and businesses by effectively addressing employee work/life needs and striving to create and maintain a culture of equity and opportunity.
Exemplars
The Exemplar Staff Program was created to reward exemplary Program Instuctors for their
performance rather than just time with the agency. The Program creates an “inner circle” of long term direct care staff that serves to provide good modeling and training, and incorporate peer feedback in planning and development of agency goals and programs.
Beyond exceptional work habits and a positive employee evaluation, nominees have to meet a spectrum of selection criteria, including demonstrating positive relationships with people in their programs, treating everyone with dignity and respect, and being a team player. Further, they were identified as staff members who take the initiative, demonstrate creativity, and continually go “the extra mile.”

Mitch Vosburg has been attending TURN day programs since 1986. When he had to go into a care center in 2009, he missed his friends at the day program that he had treasured for so many years. So, later that year, he was able to come back to the Woods Cross day program part-time.
Mitch loves holding onto hair scrunches and a deck of cards that he plays with. He enjoys Special Olympic bowling and track and field, but he cannot participate in the actual track and field games because of the heat. However, he enjoys practicing when there is cooler weather. Mitch loves being with his friends at the day program, participating in the activities, and going out in the community. He does not speak but he communicates his joy through a big smile on his face!
