Labor of Love 2024

TURN Community Services’ annual Labor of Love Holiday Gift Program provides Christmas gifts to low-income adults and children with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities in Utah. We focus on those who would otherwise have no gifts, and who are not being served by another holiday program.

This program is funded entirely from donations and relies heavily on volunteers to shop, wrap, and deliver presents. Please volunteer or donate–this is a community program, be part of the community!

October is Disability Employment Awareness Month

Every October during NDEAM, the disability services field celebrates the contributions of workers with disabilities, highlights the improvements that need to be made involving employment-related outcomes, and shares resources that stakeholders can use to help them in their efforts.

United Way Day of Caring - September 2024

TURN Community Services has a long history of participating in the Day of Caring with United Way.  This year projects will take place through the agency, including a picnic with WCF Insurance that has taken place for 20 years!

Day of Caring is an annual day of service that takes place on the second Thursday of September. United Way invites organizations across the county to come together in completing various projects that benefit the community. This is their biggest volunteer event, with over 1,500 volunteers completing over 60 service projects.

Davis County Community Impact Finalist

TURN Community Services has been selected as a finalist for the Davis Chamber of Commerce Business Awards in the category of Community Impact! This award celebrates companies that go above and beyond in their commitment to support and enrich their communities. This award honors businesses that demonstrate exceptional dedication, creativity, and impact in their community outreach efforts.

In Davis County, TURN has two day programs serving fifty people. Meraki Art and Learning Center is in Farmington, and The Adventure Center is in Clinton. TURN also has residential programs in Bountiful, Layton, and Clinton, providing affordable supported housing solutions for twenty-two people. These programs make community contributions in the Davis County area on a regular. These include engaging in community events such as the Kaysville Ponds Day to clean up on Earth Day. They plant seeds at Sowing Seeds of Change to supply needed plants for the community gardens, In Clinton, TURN Community Champions visit fire stations, police stations, and hospitals to thank first responders for the work they do. They take cookies, balloons, and birthday cards and thank them for the work they do. In Farmington, the Meraki Art Center creates hearts with encouraging messages to give to shoppers and wish them a good day. They also have formed fast friendships with the residents of the Country Pines Retirement Community in Clinton, where they go play games, chat and catch up with residents they know and care about. Throughout the state, TURN helps by serving dinners at the RevRoad Car Rally, sanitizing toys at Kids on the Move, bringing new levels of joy to exercise classes in Weber County, and impacting an estimated 350,000 people in the Freedom Festival Parade where TURNs Miss and Mr. Inspiration and their courts smiled, waved, and danced through the crowds while those lining the streets clapped, cheered, and thought about the unique contributions these individuals make as they advocate for change by courageously overcoming obstacles to serve in these very public roles to show the community the beauty of their lives.
